My Favorite Chiang Mai Cafés

The cafe culture in Chiang Mai is a recent development over the past decade or so. In the past few years in particular, more and more trendy cafés have been popping up all over the city, bringing the number to well over 100! The coolest part is that a large percentage of the coffee served at these hotspots is very local - in fact, many of the coffee farms are located in the countryside just outside of the Chiang Mai. If you're an avid coffee lover and/or enjoy unique and artsy spaces, Chiang Mai is a paradise. Below are my favorite few that I visited while I was there.

Larder Café

Amazing cappuccinos and lattés (complete with the cutest latté art) along with some seriously beautiful and delicious dishes - I recommend the fig toast, the parmesan scramble, or the salad with a side of their house-made hummus. Enjoy on their cozy outdoor patio.

Gallery Seescape and SS1254372 Café Chiang Mai

This gorgeous combination of café and art gallery (more affectionately known as "SS") is a spot I had to visit more than once for breakfast during my trip. I tried the pesto bagel, the fruity French toast as well as the coconut banana French toast, the vegetable fritters, and the granola and yogurt bowl. All were a delight, as I imagine is the rest of the menu. Peruse the multiple gallery rooms as you wait for your meal - they have some really unique art for display and purchase. Their cappucinos are also delicious.

Clay Studio Coffee in the Garden

This hidden garden oasis is a must-see while exploring Old City. Filled with Buddha statues and tables amongst the greenery, it's such a relaxing place to enjoy a coffee or tea when you need a break from walking around.

Imm Aim Vegetarian & Bike Café

This spot is the perfect place to stop for a satisfying lunch on the deck. The café is fully vegetarian and also bicycle-themed - a lot of their decor and even some of their chairs are made out of old bicycle parts. Sit on the covered second floor patio and watch the surrounding hustle and bustle as you fill up on tasty plates (I recommend the banana blossom salad, Pad Thai, and green curry with sweet potato naan)!
